I thought it would be appropriate to blog some photos from Mexico, as I just returned home from my 1st of 4 scheduled trips there in the coming year.  I have fallen completely in love with Mexico and it is quickly becoming something of a second home for me – I’ve visited Sayulita + San Pancho 3 times in the past 9 months.  These photos are from my trip there in October of last year.  I rented an apartment in San Pancho and spent two and a half weeks working from home, exploring the town, hanging with friends, making new friends and taking photographs.  I also had the opportunity to photograph two incredible weddings with my amazingly talented friend Jillian Mitchell (I’ll share some of those images later on).

A few of the above images are from Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita and Sayulita, but the majority are from afternoons I spent wandering around San Pancho.  For me, an integral part of connecting with a country/city/town, is photographing the people that live there. I make it a priority to approach at least a few people every time I’m in a new place and ask them if I can take their photo.  It’s not always easy, but I find that almost everyone is flattered and says yes.  Two people I photographed that really stood out to me were Umberto and Guillermo.  Both are guitar players that I met on the beach and quickly became friends with.  Their portraits are among some of my personal favourites :)

Now the countdown is on for my trip to San Jose Del Cabo in April.  I’m looking forward to exploring the surrounding area, meeting new people and taking more photographs like theses :)
